SHORT TERM...Tonight through Saturday Night...

High pressure will dominate the western and central CONUS over the
next week. Temperatures will be on the rise so that widespread 90s
to possibly near 100 can be expected tomorrow. A weak low pressure
over the Plainview area will continue to retrograde west towards NM,
and continue to work towards the Four Corners region. At the same
time a high over the southeast will continue to spin gulf moisture
up along the western Mexico area. This displacement of the low to the
west will aid in keeping moisture pretty much over the Rockies. Will
note that an isolated shower/storm will be possible across the
southwest today, if just enough moisture can make it. Additionally,
there`s a slight chance for storms across the northern Panhandles
tomorrow, as a possible perturbation in the northwest flow could
trigger something.

LONG TERM...Sunday through Thursday

Upper high over the Panhandles Sunday will build over the central
U.S. Rockies and central Plains states early next week. With the
upper high building northward, some of the monsoonal moisture
tracks across the Panhandles from the west. Weakness in the upper
pattern over the central and southern Plains states should help to
trigger convection mainly Sunday afternoon and Sunday night
through Monday and Monday night. As the upper high strengthens
over the central Plains states Tuesday into Thursday and
subsidence prevails, drier and much warmer conditions will be the
rule.

Surface trough over southeastern Colorado into eastern New Mexico
will remain just west of the Panhandles late this weekend and
early next week. A quasi-stationary frontal boundary over
southwestern and central Kansas Monday and Monday night. The
frontal boundary is then forecast to lift north as a warm front
Tuesday through Thursday as the surface trough remains across
eastern Colorado and eastern New Mexico. Southerly and southwesterly
winds will continue late this weekend through the middle and end
of next week. Highs in the 90s to around 102 degrees are expected
Sunday through Thursday.
