Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Glasgow MT
253 PM MDT Wed May 5 2021

.DISCUSSION...
No much changes from previous forecast discussion. Still expecting
drier weather conditions from tomorrow through Friday afternoon.
Fire weather concerns for Friday still similar, with near critical
fire weather conditions as strong winds and low relative
humidities are expected mainly across the eastern zones. However,
overcast skies are expected to spread across the region by Friday
afternoon which could hinder any fire development.

Previous discussion:

Isolated showers will continue across the region for today, but
upper ridging will extend warmer and drier weather conditions into
the area by Thursday. High temperatures for portions of the area
will again reach the 60s and 70s.

Friday is beginning to look like the next opportunity for weather
impacts as strong winds and low relative humidity combine in the
presence of dry fuels. This may help to raise fire weather
concerns. As a cold front approaches, northwest winds of 15 to 25
mph, gusting to 35 mph will be possible as relative humidity
drops to between 20 and 30 percent. Increasing cloud cover and
shower chances from the west late in the day or in the evening
continue to present uncertainty, but ensembles continue to point
toward precipitation chances holding off until Saturday into
Saturday night. If this trend continues, the next couple of shifts
may consider fire weather headlines.

Wet conditions continue to look more promising by the weekend,
though models continue to waffle on the location of the steadier
band and the exact amount of total precipitation. All told,
precipitation amounts could range between a tenth of an inch and
three quarters of an inch, but very high uncertainty continues in
terms of where the highest totals will occur.
