Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Boise ID
946 AM MDT Mon Oct 3 2022

.DISCUSSION...High pressure will keep dry conditions over the area
for the next several days. Temperatures will warm to a few degrees
above normal under the influence of the ridge. Otherwise, wind
should remain light. No changes planned to immediate term

.AVIATION...Patchy mountain valley fog/stratus this morning.
Otherwise, VFR and mostly clear. Surface winds: variable 10 kt or
less. Winds aloft at 10k feet MSL: N-NW 5-10 kt.

SHORT TERM...Today through Wednesday night...An upper ridge will
build in from the coast today replacing the recent closed low.
The high pressure aloft will bring a dry, stable and warmer air
mass to the region. While longer nights and dry conditions will
allow for near normal low temperatures, afternoon highs will warm
to around 10 degrees above normal for Tuesday and Wednesday.

LONG TERM...Thursday through Monday...An upper level ridge will
remain over the western U.S. through the rest of the week. This
will keep dry conditions and above normal temperatures around
for southeast Oregon and southwest Idaho. In addition, this
pattern will support patchy mountain valley fog for the
overnight/morning hours. During next weekend, long range models
start to diverge, but hint that slightly cooler northwest flow
aloft will develop.
