AUGUST STARTED OUT WITH A SLIGHT ABOVE NORMAL LEAN THROUGH THE 8TH
BEFORE A SLIGHT BELOW NORMAL LEAN TOOK OVER FROM THE 9TH TO 14TH.
FOR THE MOST PART, A NEAR NORMAL LEAN OCCURRED FROM THE MIDDLE TO
LATTER PART OF THE MONTH, HOWEVER, THERE WAS AN ABOVE NORMAL LEAN
FROM THE 19TH TO THE 21ST. THE STRONG ABOVE NORMAL LEAN TO START THE
MONTH AT SOUTH BEND HELPED AUGUST FINISH OUT AROUND 2 DEGREES ABOVE
NORMAL AND BECOME THE 26TH WARMEST AUGUST WHEN COMPARED TO THE
PERIOD OF RECORD. THERE WERE NO DAILY TEMPERATURE RECORDS SET THIS
MONTH.

PRECIPITATION FINISHED NEARLY 2 INCHES BELOW NORMAL. DESPITE SEEING
0.1 INCH OR GREATER 6 DAYS THIS MONTH, WHICH IS GREATER THAN THE
MONTHLY AVERAGE OF 5 DAYS, THE RAINFALL TOTALS THOSE DAYS WERE STILL
NOT ENOUGH TO PUSH THE MONTHLY TOTAL ABOVE THE MONTHLY NORMAL. AS
SUCH, THE MONTH FINISHED OUT AS THE 28TH DRIEST AUGUST WHEN COMPARED
TO THE PERIOD OF RECORD. THERE WERE NO DAILY PRECIPITATION RECORDS
SET THIS MONTH.
