.DISCUSSION...
There are two main things to watch for overnight and into Saturday
morning. The first is that as of 9 PM, there is a cold front
between Ponca City and Perry that is drifting slowly south. It is
most likely that this front will stay north of the fireground and
the forecast below is based on this scenario. But there is a
slight chance that the front may get that far south. If it does,
winds may be variable or shift to northeasterly temporarily
between roughly 3 AM and sunrise, although wind speeds will likely
remain below 10 mph. The second potential issue is the chance of
rain showers across the area Saturday morning near and after
sunrise. The chance of measurable rain is only 20 percent, but a
lot of the precipitation falling is expected to be virga - where
rain evaporates before reaching the ground. If any area of virga
approaches the fireground, winds can become more variable in
direction and potentially increase in speed (most likely to 15 to
20 mph). It is recommended to keep an eye on radar in the morning
and prepare for variable winds if any showers approach, even if
precipitation does not reach the ground.
