Weather Summary for Portions of the Central Plains
National Weather Service Hastings NE
433 PM CDT Wed Oct 5 2022

Dry conditions are expected across the area as we get into the day
Thursday...with the main story being with the passage of a cold
front. This front will usher in gusty northerly winds as well as
cooler air. Winds look to be around 15 to 20 MPH...with gusts closer
to 25 MPH. The timing of the front will result in a larger spread in
high temperatures...with highs in the north only reaching the mid
60s...while areas south of the front will climb into the mid to
upper 70s. Thursday night and through the day on upper
level disturbance crossing the Plains will bring increased rain
chances. Friday looks to be a dreary day for many spots with the
rain chances and plenty of cloud cover. Much cooler temperatures are
expected...with highs only reaching the upper 40s to mid 50s. Winds
will be northeasterly...with speeds around 10 to 15 MPH. Decreasing
cloud cover Friday night into Saturday morning and diminishing winds
will bring the potential for frost and temperatures near or below
freezing for portions of south central Nebraska...especially for
areas along and north of a line from Loup City to York. The rest of
the day Saturday and through Sunday is expected to be dry...with
more sun. Winds will generally be southwesterly through the
weekend...with speeds around 10 to 15 MPH. Saturday high
temperatures rebound back into the low to mid 60s...with Sunday
bringing highs in the low to mid 70s.
